Is it possible to Xref a word document?

I am used to referencing Word documents in Window version. If the referenced Word document is updated, the Xref in the AutoCAD drawing automatically updates. Is that possible with AutoCAD for Mac? I found some info on importing text in the knowledge network, but the imported text doesn't seem to link back to the Work document.

Hi Yumiko,

When you "referencing Word documents in Window version" you actually embed Word document to DWG file. It is possible on Windows side with OLE technology which is not available on Mac as it is OS dependent feature.
So you will nit be able to "reference" (embed) Word document in AutoCAD for Mac and you will not be able to see Word document embedded on Windows when you open drawing on Mac.

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD for Mac forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

If you save your Word document as a PDF then you can attach it to your drawing file. You can also consider a copy/paste from Word to Mtext.

If you want the original text document to be "linked" then you could consider using a spreadsheet and a DATALINK.
