I previously worked at a company that used many custom toolbars for pulling up custom blocks (pipe up/dn symbols, etc) and modifying existing lines/shapes (creating round elbows from miter, etc). These were originally set up a long time ago, possibly before 2009, and have been carried through to the most recent full version of autocad.

I have started my own practice and was hoping to use Autocad LT, and was looking to use the same customizations. I've loaded the CUIX files and added the same folder locations to the Support File Search Path, but am getting an issue where clicking on a button in a window gives me 'Unknown command "xxxx" ' instead of properly loading the block and autoscaling it.

Is there an easy way to export the settings from 2024 and import them to 2025 LT? I have a feeling I'm missing something by manually transferring the files, but it's hard to reverse engineer.

Hi,

To migrate custom settings from AutoCAD 2024 to 2025 LT, use the built-in "Migrate From a Previous Release" utility found in the Windows Start Menu under your AutoCAD 2025 folder; it automatically detects your 2024 installation and transfers settings like CUIx, PGP, templates, and tool palettes, though LT versions don't support user profiles or materials, so focus on the other key files for a smooth transition. >>> Click <<<

Hi,

AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT are different programs,

there is no servicetool to migrate settings between different programs (also not if they are from the same "year").

But: If you have the old.zip file (exported settings) and if you are willing to learn, it is possible to do it manually.

There is no ONE answer to the question "How to", because we don't know what edits, what kind if changes and files are involved.

Q: Are the most custom stuff available by Buttons? In Menubar?

Do you know how to create menus and buttons?

start with that:

Answer my questions and

Export your settings of your LT version, to have a backup, in case of fails.

Export your oldacad.zip file.

?

If you are still experiencing the Unknown command with your custom routines, it might be worth going through the list of checks in the Autodesk article “Unknown command when entering a custom command in AutoCAD” even though it is not LT-related, but the following points are still relevant to check, in addition to what you have already discovered about manually loading the MNL in LT:

Determine if AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT is operating in Safe Mode.

Ensure that the proper customization file (and any partial CUIX, such as ACAD.cuix) is being loaded.

Verify that all required ARX or CRX files are available and loaded successfully (if your custom commands rely on them).

Check that the custom command is defined in the currently loaded CUIX.

Article:

https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCAD-Error-Unknown-command-when-entering-commands.html

How to manually transfer AutoCAD settings

Verify that the command is available in the current CUIX

Execute the CUI command.

In the Customize tab, examine the list of commands and controls in the currently open CUIX.

Verify that your custom command is present and properly assigned to the toolbar/ribbon button or menu item that you are using.

If it is missing, define the command as needed and then assign it to the corresponding button/panel/drop-down.

For custom commands created using the CUI editor, they must be:

In addition to buttons on toolbars,

Or added to ribbon panels or drop-down lists,

so that there is a UI element actually calling that command. Alternatively, custom commands can be created through LISP routines and are generally loaded using APPLOAD – although, it should be noted that APPLOAD is not available within AutoCAD LT, and so in LT, the LISP/MNL would need to be loaded via startup methods (which you have already done by loading the MNL at startup).
