topic Need Layout same size as Model in AutoCAD LT Forum

I've been working on a site layout in AutoCAD that includes 7 buildings. Each building is set up as an external reference (Xref) so the layout updates automatically as we add new assets like welders, presses, and other equipment.

I'm now starting a project to map out all the nitrogen lines on the site. I'd like to keep the nitrogen lines in the same drawing (to maintain 1:1 accuracy) but on a separate tab — not in paper space and not just as a toggleable layer. I want a clean, dedicated space for the nitrogen layout that still updates automatically as building references are updated.

Is there a way to create a separate model-space-style layout (not paper space) that references the existing site model, but allows me to add and manage the nitrogen lines separately — ideally in a way that stays synced with any updates to the main Xrefs?

I hope this makes sense, any help is appreciated.

@matt_swearingen how is that different from just drafting your entire site 1:1 in modelspace, doing the same with other DWG files you bring in as XREFs? You may not be aware, or forgot, but your XREFed content can also be open files all day long too: just because they are xreffed into a master plan it does not mean they can't stay open too.

FYI the only "tabs" that are not modelspace are these up top in AutoCAD/LT, there is absolutely nothing else that fits your quest if I understood it correctly

I wonder if you ought to be using AUTOCADMAP variant, or perhaps CIVIL, or even PLANT3D, but not LT, for this basically site-plan maintenance need.

We already have maps for each individual building so we just wanted to reference those layouts into a site layout. If its not possible to have it on the same drawing is there a way I can reference the site drawing on a new drawing and have it pull the references with it too?
