Thanks. I did look at that, too. I also have them all checked.

The command works 95% of the time. I actually just restarted my computer and it's working again. It just randomly stops working. I have no idea why it stopped and then started. AutoCAD bugs, I guess. I've been working in AutoCAD since DOS and it seems like it has always done this. I get frustrated, try a million things. Restart and boom, works again.

Thanks for trying!

I work in basic LT CAD. I always draw my default polylines which are by layer and then match to which polylines are desirable. Is there a default that could have changed? I can match a new line to the layer and color but it won't pick up the width. I can manually go to properties and change it still. Lineweight is showing.

Thanks.

The only time I see it not working is if the line selected is not actually a PLINE (just a line or something). use PEDIT on those items to confirm if they are what you wish them to be.

They are definitely PLINES, but I noticed another clue just now. I went back into a drawing with a thickened pline and tried to match it. It didn't work again. I looked at properties and saw that there was no global width for that particular line. So when I add that in, it will match it. So somehow, I create plines that don't always have a global width. ugh.

I can't tell you why, but if you join two plines that both have a global width of 1 the resulting pline will not have a global width assigned. It drives me nuts sometimes but I've never figured out how to avoid it.

This is a question from 2015. Not sure where that came from three years later. If you need help, try:

PLINETYPE (System Variable)

Specifies whether optimized 2D polylines are used.

Type: Integer
Saved in: Registry
Initial value: <2>

PLINETYPE controls both the creation of new polylines with the PLINE command and the conversion of existing polylines in drawings from previous releases.

<0> Polylines in older drawings are not converted when opened; PLINE creates old-format polylines
<1> Polylines in older drawings are not converted when opened; PLINE creates optimized polylines
<2> Polylines in AutoCAD Release 14 or older drawings are converted when opened; PLINE creates optimized polylines

PLINETYPE also controls the polyline type created with the following commands: BOUNDARY (when object type is set to Polyline), DONUT, PEDIT (when selecting a line or arc), POLYGON, and SKETCH (when SKPOLY is set to 1).

For more information about the two formats, see the CONVERT command.

No, it is not a command. The System variable is Plineconvert mode.

Are you having the same problem as the OP or something different.

Just in case it could be useful for someone else: I had the same issue, where two polylines had the same apparent properties, but the one I'd apply the "MATCH PROPERTY" to wouldn't change. The difference between the two was that the good one was a normal polyline (a 2D one with an elevation applied) while the other one (the one that didn't work) was a 3D polyline. Once I transformed the 3Dpolyline into a normal polyline, the properties were immediately applied.
Does someone know how to apply different linetypes to 3D polylines?
