Changing default width of columns in properties palette

Hi,

Is there some way to change the default width of columns in the properties pallete?

Every time I open it the first column is so small that I cant read what is written there. Resizing it every time is starting to get annoying after a few months!

Which version of LT are you using?

In LT2012 I've just been fiddling with both docked and non docked and it keeps the size I stretch it to.

I also keep the properties palette docked on the right and minimized on my desktop.

I am using LT 2015 and I keep the properties palette docked to the left and unhidden.

When I load Autocad it is always there, but is always reduced in size, no matter how I left it previously.

With your AutoCAD LT closed, not running....

Go to this folder in Windows Explorer (items in blue will vary)

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\<product name>\enu\Support\Profiles\<profile name>

Look for a file named "Profile.aws", and make note the date and time on the file.
Open up AutoCAD LT.
Make some adjustments to the palette columns and/or location of the palette, etc.
Close AutoCAD LT.
Go back to Windows Explorer.
Did the date and time of the file "Profile.aws" change to the time you closed AutoCAD LT?

What I'm driving at is --- that the where the things like location of the palette and column widths are stored. If your permissions are not right and this file is not getting updated when AutoCAD LT closes (i.e. updated with things like the column width), then there is the problem.

Which is it?

Are you by chance actively saving your workspace then locking the UI after you make your changes? I can;t replicate your issue otherwise.

There was no file named Profile.aws, just one named FixedProfile.aws. Not sure if that makes a difference?

Anyway I opened AutoCad, just increased the size of the column in the Properties palette, and then closed it.

The file updated to the current time, but when I opened Autocad again the column was small again.

What I meant by that was the problem happens every time I open AutoCad, and it is a problem that I have been having for a few months, since I had the new version installed on the new computer.

To give some further information. If I move the properties palette and dock it on the right hand side, this change is still there when I reopen autocad. It is only the size of the columns which I cant seem to permanently change.

IDK - You might have to create a support ticket with Autodesk.

I tested the process that I described and the column widths for the Properties palette are being written to that file when AutoCAD closes. Then of course they are read from this file when AutoCAD opens.

Then I manually edited this file, making the column very narrow (0.05) and when I opened AutoCAD, it was reflective of this value.

I am having the exact same problem. I rename all the .aws files that I can find on my local drive and the columns widths are then corrected, but only for the first time I open a drawing. Upon the second and subsequent startups of AutoCAD, the left column of the properties palette is extremely narrow.

Have there been any further developments (solution, bug-fix) to this problem in the last 2.75 years?
