When I try to open a drawing I get this message- only on this drawing from the surveyor we are using. No other consultants have an issue opening this drawing and we have no issues with our other drawings.

acdbmodeldochost.cp@68;ehandleinuse

If RECOVER command does not open the file correctly, then ask the file creator to "save as autocad" to remove custom objects rom their variant of AUtoCAd before they send you a new DWG file.

Hi Mark- to open the drawing I am double clicking the file to launch the drawing, the first thing that appears is the message I uploaded screen print of- when you click ok it closes the program down and asks you to send an error report. I have done this dozens of times now and nobody seems to get back regards the problem.

I have (a couple of times) managed to load the drawing, but as soon as I try to print it, at the stage I am creating a window around the area to print I get another message saying the program has to close. This has only happened twice and I cannot get it to open at all now.

As I said previously other consultants can open with no issues. Also whilst working in a previous office I could open the same file with no issues- they were operating a later version of CAD though.

Hi they have resent files and I still cannot open, however they advised on email: All the survey data is processed outside acad and then imported into acad as a dxf to create a file everyone can use so there shouldn’t be any custom objects. If there is still a problem I will create a new dxf from our software and send that.

I will ask them to do this, however on going back to files on other projects that they have produced for me (they are topographical surveyors) , I can no longer open these- these files all have a dialogue box that opens when you load the drawing to say this drawing requires recovery. The last time I opened these files was on autocad LT 2007 at my previous office and I had no issues.

As I said earlier all other project consultants can open these files no problem, I am using LT 2017- is this the reason I cannot open files now?

Hi - not sure if this helps, but before loading the survey drawings I can actually see a preview of it in the box on the right, but once licked to load it comes up with the error code.
