SAVE HATCH PATTERN FROM DRAWING AS .PAT FILE

Can somebody please help me obtain the .pat file from the attached drawing.

I know there is a way to extract it using a lisp routine, however, using LT i am unable to do so.

I would greatly appreciate it!

while I could do that, that pattern looks very much like StoneCAD's limestone pattern which should be readily available from here:

http://www.stonecad.com/

Open their Random Ashlar page and download their limestone AutoCAD pattern.

HELP in AutoCAD/LT has built in tutorials and examples to get you started with coding: dig in and post back if you get stuck.

Or search the web for the one you want, it may already exist.

Hatch patterns definitions are stored in drawings where used. Here are some ways to dig them out if you do not have the .PAT from which they were loaded.

If you have access to AutoLisp, load and run GETPAT.LSP (http://www.turvill.com/t2/free_stuff/getpat.lsp)
WBLOCK a portion of the drawing hatched with that pattern area to an ASCII .DXF file to open with HatchKit. (www.hatchkit.com.au) Save the pattern of interest to a .PAT file.
WBLOCK a portion of the drawing hatched with that pattern area to an ASCII .DXF file. Open the file with a text editor ... hatch definitions can be assembled from the ENTITY section by following these DXF codes: https://www.autodesk.com/techpubs/autocad/acadr14/dxf/hatch_al_u05_c.htm

This is the LT help forum, where people who are users of the program try to help other users work with the program, many of us do actually take on private assignments and you can ask over in the classifieds section to see if someone can do the work for you.

If you want to try yourself then we can certainly help you with that by pointing out links or if you wish to post what you have attempted so far then someone would no doubt help.

You could start here, create custom hatch or even try the program https://www.hatchkit.com.au/ listed above.

Your first hint is that a hatch pattern can only contain straight segments, no curves, so you would need to change your pattern to start with as it is now made up of polyline arc's.

Try the attached zipped pattern of a single tile in a diamond arrangement, prepared with HatchKit from a DXF obtained from your DWG.

You don't, that is a .pat file in answer to the OP's question. It isn't a method to create other .pat files. Those options where given in the 11th post by @hugha

Yes. They are text files.

Simply concatenate one or more pattern definitions to the first.

Warning: Do not do this within AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT unless the file is called ACAD.PAT or ACADISO.PAT (for AutoCAD) or ACLT.PAT or ACLTISO.PAT (for AutoCAD LT) as those sytems otherwise require each pattern definition to be stored individually with exactly matched pattern and file name (pattern FRED by itself in file FRED.PAT).

Note: Best practice is to avoid adding to or editing AC*.PAT as they are at risk of overwriting during a system reinstallation.

That is what I thought. Only if the <myPattern>.PAT file contains one pattern with the same filename and pattern name works. I was confused by the "installed" .PAT files that contain multiple.
