Hello Ladies and Gentlemen

I have produced a titleblock in a drawing and put some attributes in a block so that I can automate the filling in of the project information. I wish to change the colour of the attributes as they are on the wrong layer.

Do I have to explode the blocks and then re-establish the attributes or is there a way in which I can change the layer of the block and attributes so that they are on the correct layer without exploding them?

I have attached my drawing for interested parties to view.

Thanks in anticipation.

I haven't opened up your drawing, but which layer should your attributes be on?

Just edit the block and change the layer of the attributes to the correct one.

Or if you want just select the attributes and change the colour to the correct one

Gentlemen

I have managed to change the colour of the attributes but the colour of the block that the attributes are in wont change. Currently it is blue. I have changed the layer that the block is in to red but the actual block still shows as blue.

I have attached the revised drawing - what am I doing wrong????? Numb Nuts or what

I shall be polite and not call you Numb Nuts.

I opened up your drawing selected all the elements and changed the colour from Blue to BY LAYER

This is where you become unpolite lol

The text "Title" should change to the bylayer colour as well but when I created the block it was blue. Even after you have changed the colour to Byplayer the text remains as blue - even though the layer that it is on is red.

Am I being a little dense - and please don't feel you have to be polite!

Set that object's color to BYLAYER if you want it to follow the layer color: that also applies to the attributes inside the block, for which BATTMAN command can also help.

I have done that Dean but for some reason the "host" block (the block in which the attributes reside) doesn't change - it stays as blue.

Have a look at the drawing - it is hard for me to explain.

OK

Heres what I think you did:

1) change block to layer 0 and colour to bylayer in block editor

2) change colour of required layer to desired colour

3) change attributes layer to required layer and colour to bylayer

4) put block in desired layer

Is that correct?

Yes - Klutz with a capitol ejit!!!!!!

Thanks for your help gentlemen - and a very Merry Christmas to you.

All I did was change the objects colour outside the block and inside the "title" block to by layer. You were almost there yourself.
