unbinding x-ref

Hello,

I have a dwg file with xrefs in it, i want to hatch them to the original seperate blocks so i can split my drawing into 4 dwg's.

Allready tried to hatch the xref but autocad LT crashes everytime.

Anyone has a simple solution?

Hatch the Original dwg (double click on the xref and it will open the xref editor) when finished you need to run 'REFCLOSE' and this will prompt you to save the changes, alternatively you could redraw the areas using the xref as a template or try the 'BOUNDARY' command to create the hatch areas from the xref geometry but that will probbably give you problems as well, because it sounds like your xref isn't just a simple drawing (otherwise hatch should work)

thanks Steven,

I confused hatch with exploding (sorry, language barrier).
so the question is how do i explode an xref to the original seperate blocks.

they are seperate in the reference editor but i can't copy these blocks to my designated drawing, not possible to copyclip within editor.

so i need to undo the x-ref but i need to contain all the objects in the x-ref.

Solutions?

If you bind or insert the xref to the drawing you can then explode it, but it is then probably just as easy to open the Original and use copybase !

Is the NCOPY command availible in Lt? That would be a quick way to do it if it is.

Yes, it works but it's to slow for an Xref with more than 300 blocks because you only can select one at a time.

but i finally found a solution!

you select the x-ref > edit reference in place > select all the blocks (select similar) you want

> copy and slide it next to the xref > before you save the edit select 'remove from working set' > save edit.

now you have your xref and a detached copy of all the blocks in your drawing.

all you have to do now is detach the original xref and put the copy in place.

that was my first thought also, but when i copied my blocks from the xref dwg to the main drawing

it lost his stretch action (cable trays) i performed.

so my blocks were useless, don't understand why they lose their shape.
