Take a look at the Lockui variable, it can lock toolpalettes positions, set it to zero to free everything up and read up on the other possibilities

Dynamic Input acts weird in Dual Monitor system - suggestions?

Our IT department has upgraded one of the CAD machines here to AutoCAD 2017LT. At issue is the dynamic input bar. If AutoCAD is running on the left monitor, the dynamic input follows the cursor position and works as expected. But the monitors are arranged in such a way that it's more ergonomic to read the input plans on the left side and use AutoCAD on the right monitor. Now it gets weird: the dynamic input bar stays permanently fixed halfway up and right in the middle of both monitors, rendering the function unusable, since part of the boxes cannot be read. We tried all kinds of setting changes in drafting settings (DS) under the Dynamic Input tab, toggled F12 on and off, and locked & unlocked all toolbars and menus to no avail. Any ideas for a work-around? It took a long time to get funding for an upgrade to the software, I'm afraid that a new graphics card or monitors will be denied on request by our friendly IT folks. - Thanks!

Hi @ lotharerkens,

Sorry to hear that you are having this problem. Let's see if you can provide a bit more information.

If you could provide a screencast video of the issue you are facing I'd be happy to try and take a stab at it too.

Screencast is a free application through Autodesk.

A few quick questions:

Do you know if your IT folks updated the graphics card drivers when installing your new AutoCAD 2017/LT?

Do you have high res monitors?

That coordinate display which pops up if you toggle the F12 key and are in a command. It has the X-coordinate in the left box and the Y-coordinate in the right box when drafting in a 2D environment.

Sincerely,

[cid:image001.jpg@01D03199.80335730]

[cid:image002.jpg@01D0F76E.E2822E70]

Lothar Erkens
Technical Sales & Engineering
Winco Window Company
6200 Maple Ave
St Louis MO 63130
P: 800.525.8089 Ext #: 203
P: 314.328.2093 [direct line]
F: 314.725.1419

Confidentiality Warning: This e-mail contains information intended only for the use of the individual(s) or entity named above.
DYMODE variable's pop-up, OK, I get it now. So it sticks to the middle of the screen(s) when the you move the program to the other monitor?
Which monitor have you assigned as the primary in WIndows' Display settings? And is the problem not on that one by chance? As in, you need to assign the problem monitor as the primary?
