FRAME system variable resets to 3

LT 2014. FRAME system variable keeps changing back to 3 every time I re-open a drawing I had previously set it to 2. The issue is with a .pdf underlay inserted in a title block and then xref'd into other drawings. Even if I set FRAME to 2 in the base drawing, it reverts back to 3 everywhere. Someone please tell me there is a way to keep the setting I need. Thanks.

Looking at the help files, it would appear that it is normal behavior "Frame" is only used to keep other variable in line, you should maybe look at the other ???frame settings like PDFFRAME.

I had a dig about, frame only sets the ??FRAME variables to the same value either 0, 1 or 2, a value of 3 reflects that there is a difference in some of the other values, it is actually the WIPEOUTFRAME variable that doesn't play nicely it resets to 1 when you close and reopen a drawing (no idea why) but besides that the one it appears you want setting is PDFFRAME and that stays nicely at 2 even when FRAME reports it's setting is 3 (which is only an indication that the other ??FRAME values vary).

The question is what do you hope to achieve, are PDF's not plotting correctly?

which object 'frame' are you trying to control specifically? FRAME is a catch-all but other specific variables may be at play too.

Hello all and thank you for your replies. Sorry for the delay in responding. I think steven-g solved it with PDFRAME. The issue was only with a handful of files that used the same xref and frankly I lost track of all the settings but it seems if I make sure the PDFRAME system variable is set to 2, the frame around the .pdf underlay doesn't plot and stays that way when I reopen the file. Thanks again.
