Here's a file showing the issue, I turned hardware acceleration on and off with no change.

If the problem carries over to your machine, you will notice if you zoom in and try to snap to a line intersection, it snaps to a point off to the side. I checked to make sure grid snap was turned off...

Thanks for the help. In the photo below you can see there is space between the extension line and the intersection of both dimensions.

I have an odd problem in paper space, I can snap a dimension line to the model space linework, but when I zoom out to view the whole layout, the extension lines are significantly misaligned with the target. Zoom back in, and they prove to be properly aligned.

This only happens in certain documents (which have been cloned from the same template). It's like there is some parallax error between model and paper space.

Can you post a file with some dims that show this behaviour. Just to make sure there are no problems in the actual drawing file. (remove any sensitive data, just leave enough that the problem still shows up).

Post screenshots of all of these and confirm if you are zoomed in this never happens.

Or just turn of hardware acceleration in GRAPHICSCONFIG command and see if that helps.

Turn off WIREFRAME in modelspace and inside your layout and see if your visual problem goes away.

Also, your vertical DIM actually missed the intersection it was aiming for (it even shows on your screenshot).

BTW that's a very tiny scale for a D-sized sheet, is that really what you want to do? and learn to lock your viewports so the scale doesn't change unintentionally.

Ooh as they say, 3D elements polylines with elevation, dimensions not associating to geometry, I think there are quite a few things here that need a closer look at.

OK, I have no need for anything in 3D, somehow I got into that mode (indicated by the 3D UCS icon) and I'm not sure how to get back to 2D. How do I do that?

The scale of the linework in the D-size is only a small part of a larger drawing (I deleted a lot of extraneous linework). The viewport scale is set to 1"=1'-0"

LT is still AutoCAD: it may not be able to create true 3D objects but it sure can and will display them if they are there. It will never convert 3d to 2d for you.

To get out of the "3d" WIREFRAME view you seem stuck in both modelspace and inside the viewport, you need to set SHADEMODE command to 2Dwireframe.

As for converting the objects, you need to ask the source of your detail for that if EXPLODE command offers no relief in LT and you don't have anyone with full AutoCAD to help you with FLATTEN command.

Here is your file, the 3D draw rail has been turned to 2D and made into a block and everything brought back to Z=0.

Most component manufacturers offer their drawings in either 2D or 3D, it would be worth making sure you just get the 2D versions. Although the 3D stuff is usable in LT the problem is that snaps still goto 3D coordinates, which if you are not aware of it can cause a number of problems.
