Hi @Anonymous,

Can a different user logon to the computer and run AutoCAD LT properly? If so then we know AutoCAD is working OK and it is only the profile that is involved. If all the other steps mentioned in the thread have failed, is it possible to remove the user profile from the computer entirely and then add it back? ( In essence you are creating a new profile on the machine.)

Can this one user logon to other computers in the environment and run AutoCAD LT successfully?

Dear All

I customer of mine experienced this error notification when starting Autocad LT 2014. I searched and tried differen solutions but none of them worked.

So far I tried:

- Importing a profile from a different device using the import setting tool

- Importing a profile from a differen device using the register.

- A repair of the installation

- Run the software as administrator

- Delete the Autocad LT 2014 folder in appdata/local and appdata/roaming

Could someone please provide a working solution?

Cause

Your AutoCAD profile has likely become corrupt, resulting in this error message. To address this issue, you'll need to reinitiate the secondary AutoCAD installer, which will reset your CAD installation to its default settings.

Solution

1. Close CAD.

2. If you have created and saved an AutoCAD profile, export your profile as a backup from the CAD Options dialog box, Profiles tab. (You can open the Options dialog box by typing Op in the Command line.)

3. Follow our instructions to view hidden files and folders.

This step is crucial. Without your hidden files and folders turned on, you won't be able to see the folder paths referenced below.

4. Open your C: drive, and delete the following folders:

The examples pictured below show the folders you would need to delete if you have AutoCAD or F/X CAD 2015.

5. Open the Registry Editor:

Press CTRL+R (Windows keyboard), or Command+R (Mac keyboard).

6. Expand the registry keys (folders) to the path shown below, and delete the following registry key:

Note: The screenshot below shows an example registry key. The exact path of this key on your computer will vary depending on your CAD installation.

7. Restart CAD.

8. (if necessary) You may need to import your AutoCAD profile using the Import button in the CAD Options dialog box, Profiles tab.

look to the options of the AutoCAD start icon (or the item in the Windows start menu). Getting the options (right click onto the icon) you see how AutoCAD is started and the start parameters (>>>details for parameters<<<).

There is the /p parameter that defines the profile that should be used for AutoCAD. This parameter can describe either just a name (that profile values are already stored in the registry) or a filename with extension ARG (this file will be imported if there is no registry stored profile with the same name).

So I think the ARG file can't be found/does not exist ... or ... there are some values in it that are not valid. That may be the file is corrupt, the file was exported from another AutoCAD-release/-language/-vertical product/-wrong paths (different installation paths).

To correct this now:

one possible option maybe to remove the complete /p-part of the startup-icon. The other option would be to create a new profile, then export it as ARG-file and use the filename that was set as parameter.

Good luck

Hi @Anonymous,

If you are unable to get it to work even with other user accounts then yes, it might be a good time to do a clean uninstall and reinstall. First though, tell me if you tried logging on as an administrator. I want to make sure that permissions are not part of the problem. Please also run the Prerequisite checker prior to the reinstall.

Please also tell me what operating system is in use? If it is Windows 10 that is likely a big part of this issue.

Hi @Anonymous,

Your AutoCAD LT 2014 is not designed to run on Windows 10. Here are the system requirements for your version.

If you can, you might go back to Windows 8.1 or Windows 7. Otherwise you could try to run a virtual machine on your computer that has the older OS required by your software.

Lastly, you could consider an upgrade to current version. Here is a Trial that would let you test for 30-days.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.
