Converted .fbx drawing into .dwg does not show up in paper space

Not sure how I can fix this problem

Please advise to me how I can have my object show in my paper space. The model was exported from a much larger BIM model. It shows up fine in auto cad, But once i go into actually making the drawing it doesn't want to show. Does anyone know the solution? Id be much appreciative. Thanks

Exported with Navisworks into FBX

Converted FBX into DXF file to open in autocad

then saved as .dwg

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD LT forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

In the drawing file (DWG), do you see all the geometry? Is it all visible in the model. When you swap to paperspace and open the viewport, have you checked to see if the layer(s) are set to be visible in the viewport?

Can you share the file so I can take a peek?

Did you remember to create a viewport in your layout first?
In modelspace, if you Zoom Extents, does the model disappear?

I can try this but its in 3d and i usually just do a projected view . When i do this is doesnt show up.

Your paperspace have no viewport: no viewport means no viewing of modelspace content. See attached, I now added a viewport, now you can see your modelspace content. I'll assume the missing 20-xrefs have no impact on your ultimate goal since they were not included.

What if I may ask did you try (commands) to bring in content to paperspace from modelspace?

i went to base, from model space. usually it gives me a projected view. i do that it in this case and i am unable to see the whole projected view. I was gonna do the veiwport options in this case i was trying to do a projected view. The veiwport would work great in a 2d drawing. I appreciate your help on this. thanks very much

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for the drawing file. I ran AUDIT and it found six errors so I suggest fixing that first.

Then I noticed that I had no problem creating Viewbase views and projected views. Only some of the geomtery shows up because much of your model is made up of 3DFaces. Viewbase relies on visible Solids or Surfaces.

Thanks again for your help, How can I incorporate 3DFaces into my projected view? Your right not everything is visible.

Hi @Anonymous,

Cleaning up this model can not really be handled in AutoCAD LT. If you want to try the steps to get this working, you will need to give a 30-day Trial of AutoCAD a run.

Cleaning this up in AutoCAD will take some time. I started playing with a variety of commands such as convtosurface, convtosolid, surfsculpt, Meshsmooth, etc and found for much of the geometry it is actually easier and faster to recreate the geometry.

So, if you are doing this solely in AutoCAD LT, a viewport might be the best way to show this model. Viewbase is a command that is not available in AutoCAD LT.
