I cannot seem to find my layer properties pallet. When I toggle it on and off, it doesn't show up on either of my two monitors.

Things I've tried already that didn't work:

1. Changing the screen resolution to something really small and then back again.

2. Hold Shift and right click on AutoCAD icon in the task bar (the MOVE option is unavailable).

3. Hold Alt and hit space bar

4. Rt. click the AutoCAD icon in the task bar and maximize/minimize.

Any help would be appreciated.

FYI... I have one of my screens flipped portrait and the other landscape.

Windows 10, AutoCAD LT 2017

-P.

Try changing to a different workspace. You might need to put some stuff back to how you had it and resave the workspace but you'd get it back. I have a workspace for dual monitors and one for single monitors. Sometimes you can just switch back and forth and it will reset the palettes to how you had them saved which will fix it.

Hello @Anonymous,

Here are a couple more ideas to try:

1. Make sure the Clean Screen option is disabled. Hit Control + 0 to turn off and on.

2. Try editing the palette in the CUI editor. Using the Properties palette as an example, follow these steps:

Enter CUI on the command line.

Select your workspace on the left.

Click the Customize Workspace button on the right.

Expand Palettes and select Properties.

Change the appearance settings to:

Show: Yes

Orientation: Floating

Allow Docking: No

Auto Hide: Off

Click the Done button and then click OK.

See if this helps you out at all!

That didn't solve the layer pallet problem, but it did solve my missing properties window. I think AutoCAD thought my third monitor was a lot bigger than it really is and had the properties bar off screen.

I had a similar problem , where a pallet ended up positionned in such a way that my mouse could not reach the blank part of the pallet frame to reposition it. I used the windows screen properties and changed the sequence of my screens . Screen three , which was originaly on the right hand side of screen one, i moved it to be on the left hand side of screen one. Magicaly the pallet that was stuck reappeared on the main screen. Afterwards i moved my screens back to the original configuration, and all was peace love and happiness again.

OMG! I tried all the above solutions (changing the CUI settings, turning off/on screen clean, docking the palette, etc) and NONE of them worked... Until I got to your solution!

Your solution of switching the screens was the ONLY one that worked!!! (I have three screens and of course the header portion of the palette was WAY off the right screen). Swapping the outer two monitors was the only one that let me grab the header while it was on the middle screen. THANK YOU!!! 😊

Thanks for the reply, Tony. Yes, I'm discovering a lot of MS and Autodesk products not wanting to play nice with each other. Just today I'm having fun constantly having to stretch the columns in Revit's visibility graphics dialog box and the linked files dialog box b/c for some reason they've started to compress to their smallest width EVERY SINGLE TIME I open the window. 🙄

I recently had the same issue with a new monitor. I accidentally moved my layer properties menu off the screen to the point which I could not drag it back. Previously mentioned solutions didn't seem to help, but simply going and changing my display settings on the monitor from 100% to 125% brought the menu back into frame and I was able to drag it back before reverting to my previous display settings. This was an incredibly frustrating and humbling experience to say the least.
