Dimensions changing when lines/objects are moved, rotated or stretched

Recently updated from AutoCAD 2017 to 2019 and there seems to be a new function that makes some dimensions auto update and change when a line or object is moved, rotated or stretched. There does not seem to be a rhyme or reason as to which dimensions auto update and which dimensions stay. This could be a handy function if used properly, but as of now it's just causing grief. Probably because I don't understand all of it yet..

Is there a way to turn this function off? OR, is there a place I can go to learn more about this new function?

At the command line type DIMASSOC. Change the value to 0

It does that here in 2017 as well as older versions: you probably liketo have DIMASSOC variable turned off or set to 1 (it only stops associating of new dims, not already in place dims).

For already drawn dims you need to hit them all with DIMDISASSOCIATE command first. Usage is explained in HELP.

Why would you want to turn it off? For most people this is a valuable tool. I would suggest that you familiarize yourself with how to use it properly.

In LT, the lack of built-in automation as part of its value price means you yourself just need to keep track of it all the time. SYSVARMONITOR command can help alert you of variables changing from your preferred settings.
