I am trying to xref a title block into the layout tab of a drawing. When I try adding the drawing, it does not show up. The file name and path appears in the xref manager and all the layers show up in the layer manager, but there is no line work showing up. It is not referenced into defpoints. No layers are frozen.

I can open the title block drawing in another drawing, then using Ctrl-C I can copy it directly to the layout tab on the drawing I am trying to create and the drawing shows up fine. It just won't show up when xref'd.

Any ideas?

My first idea is: Your modelspace is empty and xrefs are only imports the modelspace.
XREF works on modelspace content: it is not used to grab content from paperspace layouts. If that is where your titleblock is, in paperspace, go to that source file and copy it to modelspace with copy/paste action.

If you are trying to simply copy a paperspace layout from another file you can use either ADCENTER command or right-click over a layout tab and select FROM TEMPLATE to bring it in. Then create new viewports etc for this file that you are in.

actually, I have added title blocks to paper space before using the xref command. I find it helpful to do it this way because I can manipulate revisions, add PE seals, etc on the titleblock file and it updates every sheet in the set automatically.

I tried xrefing the title block into model space and the same thing happen...no linework shows up. Nothing is frozen. No layers are turned off.

Try again!
