In model section draw a box or type rec then hit enter and click the cursor pointer anywhere then type d then set 420 x 297mm size (A3). Then go to layout then type mv and hit enter then drag the cursor and draw a box, then zoom in the box you created then point the cursor outside the mv box or click outside the box, click the mv box then type 20.00 in custom scale to use 1:50 scale.. hope it works..

Hello

I completed a drawing using scale 1:1, however, I have now been asked to change that from 1:1 to 1:50. I have changed it on the model space and on the paper space when going to plot to PDF. The drawing is on A3 and has gone very small into the left side corner, is there anything that I can do to rectify it? Or is there anything that I can do in the beginning to make sure this doesn’t happen again?

I need it to take up the whole A3 page on 1:50 scale on AutoCAD and PDF.

Any suggestions please?

Welcome to the Forums

If you are plotting from paper space you do not need to set the scale at 1:50. Leave it at 1:1 and change what to print to extents. See the highlighted areas in the image below

As long as your viewport scale is 1:50 and you leave the scale shown as 1:1 then yes your drawing will be at 1:50 scale

@Anonymous This was correctly answered by @h_s_walker 2 years ago, not to mention that your instructions are confusing and basically incorrect. Using a metric template and an A3 layout a 1:50 scale is easily picked from the drop-down list, and as such the rectangle you drew in modelspace would be tiny in the viewport.

At the command line type SCALELISTEDIT. You can then add 1:1500 to the list of scales. See the image below
