I am having a strange issue that I cannot duplicate. Sometimes when I move an object, it seems to go into the tracking command and will not let me drop the object without placing it in 2 or more places before dropping. I am not using the tracking command. It does not matter if I have ortho turned on or off. Please excuse me if this has already been asked, but I searched and could not find anything like this issue.

Dave

How does MOVE command require you to place it in 2 or more places?

The following is a rundown of the process that I go through after entering the MOVE command

1. select object to be moved

2. select base point

3. click to drop object (not on a specified point, but in "space"). This is where things go awry as the object will not be placed.

4. Autocad asks for another point. Select another point (in "space"). Object still not placed.

This happens 2 to 5 times before the object is actually placed, but not all the time. Sometimes it will work for a few days, but then it will happen almost all the time for a day or so.

dave

Open/start a new blank file in AutoCAD. Draw something.

Can you replicate the move issue with this drawn object? probably not right? Copy/paste the previous object from the problem file into this empty one, does the object look weird? Does it suddenly fail to move the same way?

So it is a random occurrence? You made it sound like it happens all the time in every file.

There is no fix for random: next time it happens restart AutoCAD or your PC and it should go away as noted in message #5
