µ not M

I have searched and cannot find a resolution for this. The symbol µ appears as M with whatever font I use. It works fine in word, so the issue is specifically related to Autocad. I've checked between the same product on my PC and laptop. The laptop is fine, the PC is not.

I have also saved the file to my laptop, added the µ symbol in mtext. Opened it on the PC, and it displays it correctly, but it won't cut and paste back in correctly.

I'm confused.

That is really strange. Could you send me the NFO file of both the laptop and the PC? You may do it by following the instructions here: How to obtain a System Information file (NFO) for diagnostics and troubleshooting

Which AutoCAD version are you running? Are the latest updates installed?

Finally, could you please try doing the same with the following text?

I've tried this about 5 times. Here goes another try!!

Both machines are running Autocad LT 2019, installed in Jan this year.

The desktop is brand new. The laptop is 4+ years old.

NFO files attached.

Hey @darenBDY8M , are you replying directly via email? Unfortunately email replies only allow plain text. If you add attachments or emails, they will not show. That's why I don't see your NFO files as well.

In any case, could you please do the following?

Type ABOUT and check the Product Version. If it doesn't say "AutoCAD LT 2019.1.2", go to your Autodesk Account and download the 2019.1.2 update.
If that does not solve the issue, try creating a new Windows user.

Updating Autocad made no difference.

I'm not prepared to create a new windows user account. I'm confused enough with all these accounts I have 🙂

I get that, I was just wondering what the culprit could be. Does it work on any of the other Windows users you already have?

You should also try clean uninstalling AutoCAD: Perform a Clean Uninstall

Unfortunately, there's only me.

The same problem doesn't occur when using Word or Excel, so it appears to be specifically related to Autocad.

I've also changed the keyboard, it makes no difference.

I see, I just wanted you to test if it happens also on a newly created Windows user:

Create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10

Also, have you already tried uninstalling AutoCAD?

Hi,

So a new user account resolves the problem.

If I uninstall LT how do I keep the screen set up to save me having to spend time setting up the icons etc as I am used to.

I've installed the latest version as previously mentioned which didn't resolve the issue.

Hey @darenBDY8M , glad to hear that it solved the issue. Before moving everything to the new user, could you please try the following on the user that still has the problem?

Export your custom AutoCAD settings: To Export And Import Custom Settings Between The Same Release
Reset AutoCAD to defaults: How to reset AutoCAD to defaults
Test if the issue is solved.

If it is solved, import your custom settings again (the procedure is in the same article I linked) and see if the problem occurs again.

If it is not solved, then the settings should be fine and the problem is elsewhere. You can import the settings on the new Windows user using the same procedure.

Now that I've reset the settings it works fine.

I tried to import the settings and the problem comes back. So, I'll just manually update the settings.

We got there in the end.
