What exactly do you need to count, if it is just numbers of blocks with different names then the quickest method is select all the blocks and use the list command, then copy the results into excel, select only the block names and sort them alphabetically, (then count).

But it would depend on what you need to count and how often you need to do it.

I would like a way to perform the equivalent of the BCOUNT command in LT. Is there a work-around? Is it possible to write a table formula to count the blocks and display the totals in a cell? If so, where would I find that formula? It's ok if the block totals aren't in a table, I just need their totals (otherwise I'll be counting blocks on site plans by hand!). Thanks

Perhaps some of the workarounds mentioned here might help?

Did anyone ever find a reasonable workaround for this? This is the only thing about LT that I actually hate -- otherwise, LT is just fine for landscape architecture. I miss regular autocad just for the bcounts.

Unless I'm missing something when I try the "list" command mentioned above. On my screen, it doesn't show anything about quantities per block.

The list command itself won't show any totals.

You need to use the list command after selecting all blocks and then copy the command history into an excel sheet and use excels tools to sort and count using block names. There is nothing automatic about the process, you have to do it manually. But it is the quickest method for LT users.

add. to steven-g

The "total count" process can be done in Excel or a good text editor,

by using a macro (which one you have to write yourself or you find one in www).

It would be working up to "just one click in LT", but you need many magic to do this,

nothing simple.

Another thing:

If i would be a LT-User, i would never be a LT-only user, but IF:

I would add one attribut(definiton) to ALL my blocks (except of blocks like dim-arrows or similar).

Why?

1. It can be helpful for many reason and

2. I can use ATTEXT then, which create a much better list of my blocks as LIST will do that.

You can write a script to export the blockdata with one click (everytime to the same file)

and you can setup a "Count my stuff" Excel file which reads yout exported data.

Result: One click in LT, and you can see all the total counts in your Excel file.
