I've been having a recurring issue with annotative blocks.

When others in the office open a file containing an annotative block, be they as simple as room names & numbers or more complex as a dynamic spot elevation tag; the scale of the block blows up....(see attached).

Attsync will temporarily fix the issue but the next time the file is opened it repeats, except for me the original draftsman of the block and or project.

It seems like some kind of variable that resets the scale or something, I've looked and compared what variables I can find relating to annotation but no joy.

I think it might have happened to me before even with a full version of AutoCAD...

Your drawings don't give any point of reference for "blown up" that might mean something to you but your drawings appear OK yes they contain blocks yes they are annotation, but what do you see as "blown up" what size should they be? in comparison to what?

I did run attsync on your second drawing, and yes the blocks did reduce in size, but closing and reopening they remained the same size?

Can you give us screen shots showing what is wrong (before and after) or a series of steps to carry out that reproduce the problem?

Hi, thanks for the interest.

Attached are two screen shots, one of the actual floor plan

with the titles and spots at there proper size...

The second blown up shows the blown up text and in the very center very small

is a copy of the stuff from the floor plan....

Again this doesn't happen to me but the others in the office open the file

and the Annotative stuff blows up and everytime they open the file it happens...

I've had to start reverting all my blocks to simple non-annotative blocks because

nor I nor my local dealers expert could solve the issue...

The fact that it doesn't happen to me leads me to believe it's some type of setting or

variable that's different but for the life of me I couldn't figure which one.

I never use annotative anything, but the problem appears to be the scale of your drawing, when I open your drawing the scale is set to 1/4" = 1' - 0" and your blocks have that same scale (making them 48X bigger than the original block) if you are drawing in modelspace full size then shouldn't your blocks be at the scale of 1:1. What I can't figure out is why it would appear normal for you but enormous for a colleague unless it is some "anno" variable I thought they where all saved in the drawing but I suppose one of them could be a system setting that is causing problems between computers.

Good morning....

The blocks are created at 1:1 as they need to display in paper space (for this example the attribute text is set to be 3/32" plotted height). The Blocks are annotative so that when they are inserted into a drawing they are automatically shown at the proper size (attribute/text should now be 4.5" high) and when plotted the text will be 3/32" of and inch.

In the drawing where they where the blocks were inserted, their properties (on my station) show a scale of 1:1 with an annotation scale of 1/4"=1'-0".

The blocks are annotative but the attributes use a non-annotative text style (no need to scale the text twice).

As you can see in the Full Screen shot below the "Show all Anno Scales" is not selected, and the actual blocks only have the 1/4"=1'-0" scale added.

Also, the lines and circles do not blowup it's just the text/attributes.

I do agree with you that it feels like a variable but for the life of me I can't find one and the other staff members know nothing about variables (other than visretain).

I have never turned that on because as I understand it, it will apply whatever drawing scale your currently on to every annotative element, whether you want that on at that scale or not and the others may or may not be in the correct scale; so I don't want them adding scales we might not be using.

This also doesn't seem to explain why it works on my station and messes up on the others.

And why Attsync fixes the issue....

>>>...I have never turned that on ...<<<
You probably should not be using annotative text/dimsyles/blocks/attributes them, that's the best fix for your situation. Then clue everyone else you exchange files with to never use the feature either.

Isn't ATTSYNC a basic reset/change to what is there?
