Trying to import 2 layers (l-plnt & Second phase PLT) from one drawing A to final drawing B using the Layer state manager . I seem to be having some problems. I attached the 2 drawings as well as shots of the dialog boxes. When I import drawing A the 2 layers I mentioned above are not showing in the Select Layer States dialog box - the only layer showing is Acet-layiso. I must be missing something. Can you explain the steps involved in this process. Thank

you

you

That is a layer state, not a layer, you are using the layer states manager to transfer layers from one drawing to another which is correct, but that dialogue box you show doesn't let you see the layer names it lets you see the different layer states (if any). Take a look at this video it might make it a bit clearer.

At some point you have to ask yourself if it is easier to just make them. This is two layers. You could have made them and assigned the appropriate properties in less time than it took you to start this thread.

With that said, design center is probably the most versatile tool for this type of thing. If you aren't already fluent with it, it could prove to be quite useful in your workflow for other things that need to be transferred from one file to another.

Another down and dirty option would be to copy/paste two lines, one for each layer, from the source file to the target one.

Fastest way I found to do this:

1. Save the drawing you're working in that doesn't have the layers you want.

2. Navigate to the MANAGE tab on your ribbon bar and then IMPORT

3. Navigate to the drawing with the layers you want. Click it and then click Open.

4. In the "Import Civil 3D Styles" dialog box that opens, click the white box to uncheck all other options you may not want.

5. Click the checkbox next to "General". your dialog box should look something like below

6. Click Ok.

Check your layer manager. The layers from the source drawing should be there.

Hope this helps
