Can you post the drawings, because it looks like those are converted PDFs and sometimes you get text and sometimes you get a solid shape which looks like text, but isn't.

Hello everyone, I am having trouble with my text and annotations displaying as strange characters. The problem occurred out of nowhere as I was moving around annotations. I looked online and on the forums for a solution but have found nothing yet. The thread I found on the forums was about a text display problem with the ariel font. I'm using a different font and my text is not overlapping it's just displaying in a very strange format. The more you work on it and zoom in and out of the things the more distorted the text becomes.

I have tried solving it by using the graphicsconfig command and unchecking the boxes but that didn't work. I also tried using regen but it only work for a few seconds before the strange display returns. I also tried auditing and that came with no errors. I tried purging but that also only works for a few seconds. Also, I am using AutoCad LT 2018 product version 0.49.0.0

I will also attach some images of what the issue looks like.

I converted it down so I could have a look and found weird problems with the text it was ghosting outlines of the words. It might be something wrong with that actual drawing. I copied all the items from model space into a new drawing and they look fine.

I've attached the drawing and a PDF as well

It does appear to be that the drawing I was working on somehow became corrupted. When I copied the new files you created onto that original one, the text became erratic again. Now that I remember correctly, before the problem occurred, my cad crashed then I reopened and a few minutes after the issue occurred.

That font is called ROMANTIC, style is ROMANTICBOLD, it is not TIMES NEW ROMAN at all. Perhaps you don't have that font, or when you maintain the LT2013 format to the file it is lost?
Why are you saving your files to LT2013 format?

Post a screenshot of your ABOUT command please: RECOVER command reported 3-issues in your file.
I just checked and there are other fonts being used. So the ROMANTICBOLD is being used for the blue annotations and The room labels on the floor plan are using ARIEL. I mentioned TIMES NEW ROMAN because that's what I was using to label the balcony parts and dimensions. The floor plan is a drawing that was given to us to use as an underlay for the balcony installs. and the annotations where from a template used to label balcony parts. so there is two separate drawings combined, I'm not sure is that is what caused the problem then?

I usually save files as LT2013 format because I import floor plans into another software (Tekla) to which we have the 2017 version of so it doesn't read the file when I try to import any LT2018 DWGs. I suppose I forgot to change the format when I saved this drawing.

@h_s_walker

as far as auditing, that seems to not have any effect on font issue.

The only other issue that remains (and I think it has to do with the cause original issue) is the annotation cursor. Whenever I hover over a a text or dimension, the annotation cursor is not displayed correctly and instead looks like a tiny pair of broken wings, I'm unsure if that has to do with the fact that there might be something wrong with this file. But I feel like for the most part it's back to normal.
