I have a number of non standard layers in a drawing which did have data on them but dont any longer, but layer manager wont let me delete as it assumes theres still info on them (presumably they have been "logged" as used?) Can anyone suggest how I delete them as I get an error message on opening the drawing saying it cant find some of the info (because I deleted it!).

Don't assume, just do the next best thing: LAYMRG command, merge them with layer 0 (that's a zero): if they are truly empty nothing shows up on that layer, if not, well, you know... surprise!

Look up LAYMRG aka Merge Layers command in HELP if you need more information on usage.

HTH
