topic Creating and saving different layout tabs of same image (in model space through viewports) showing different settings in AutoCAD LT Forum

I am using autocad lt 2022. I want to create multiple layout tabs of the same dwg of a building. I have the singular drawing in model space that all the viewports in the layout tabs will reference. Within the different layouts, I want to have the plan showing differently in each layout. I want to show the building in one layout with certain areas hatched. In another layout, I want to show a new layout with no hatch. etc etc. Of course all the layouts are referencing the one dwg in model space... When I change the settings in the layers in one layout tab, it invariably changes in all the layout tabs. Isn't there a way to save each layout with various settings applied to each? My work around has been to adjust the layers how I want them to read and to plot a pdf file to save it, then I go back in and adjust the layers again and plot another pdf file. I hope this makes sense.

Hi,

you want&need to "freeze in spezific ViewPort",

to do this go layout

jump into your viewport (command MSPACE for example)

open your LAYERproperties-Manager

look for column "VP Freeze" and set it to freezed.

Jump back to paperspace, command PSPACE for example.

ok, I finally got it to work. couldn't figure out why the layout tab
wasn't saving. I was going back to model space to test and freezing test
layers...and they were disappearing in the saved layout. I just realized
that 'freezing' a layer in layer properties will cause the layer to still
disappear in the saved layout, but if I turned the lightbulb to 'off' in
the layer properites, my drawing did in fact remain saved in the saved
layout. Thanks!

Update: I finally got it to work. I was under the impression that by checking VP Freeze on the single layer Viewports in layer properties, that that would set my entire screen as it was currently displaying....not the case....didn't realize that I had to VP Freeze each individual layer.....now I got it!!!! Trial and error. Thanks!!
