LT 2023 Move or Copy Layout - inserts after selected layout instead of before

Had a search to see if anyone else has noticed this. When I right-click a layout tab and chose move or copy, I believe in the past it would always copy the clicked tab and place it BEFORE the layout highlighted in the list. Since updating, it is now moving it AFTER the selected layout, despite saying that it will be before. Is this just a bug or am I failing at life? If a bug, where can I report it?

Of course, just as it is written in the dialogue.

And as it work in my AutoCAD 2023.0.1 too.

What is your Productversion? You can see it in Dialog of Command: ABOUT

If it isn't an AutoCAD2023LT Problem: Can you share a screencast/video?

@pdonald001 Side note: you do know that you can move/copy layouts with just your cursor's drag/drop feature: to copy simply hold down the CTRL button when you drag/drop, placement is as easy as you selecting where it goes.

One thing more:

I remember a case with corrupted files, so make sure that it is also an issue in new files!

NEW, template ACAD.dwt , create some layouts and test it in this new clean file.

Same problem using the drag and drop method! I will try checking in a clean file as @cadffm suggested first, then post a video if problem persists, thanks.

I'm also having this problem. It seems that if I select 'create a copy' first and then the layout to paste before it works as expected, but not always.

I too have experienced this odd behavior. It seems, in my experience so far, that it will place it after the tab if you select the tab directly after the one you want to copy. However, if you select a tab in another location that is not directly after the one you are copying, it places if before that selected tab.

The copy by dragging & holding down the CTRL button does get around this issue, but I am so used to right clicking & selecting where to copy your tab, as I'm sure so many out that are, it would be nice to have this fixed.

Thanks for the suggestion of corrupt files. I have found that a lot of our template files (some are originally from 2008) are the root of this issue - I guess there are some communication issues between the legacy stuff and 2023. I created new templates (just copied and pasted the data from the old ones into a new drawing) and using them seems to make the problem go away.

This is the solution I found from them... Not a good answer to the problem.

Issue: "Move or copy" of layout with "Create a copy" selected, places the copy behind the selected layout instead of before in AutoCAD 2023 products

Environment: Version 2023

Solution: Move the copied layout per drag and drop to the correct place.

This is still an issue in August 2024. It is just another annoying AutoCAD undocumented feature.

I am using CIVIL 3D 2023.

I believe this was fixed in LT 2024 when I tried it earlier this year. However there were some other items I didn't like in that version so am still working with LT 2023 & this little hiccup when copying tabs still exists.
