Delete a part of the piece

Hi.
I would like to know if there is any command / tool to remove the
unwanted side of a bar that goes through a hollow sphere (the selected
side in the image) with a flush cut.
I achieve the result by drawing the pieces on different layers > I make
the intersection between the 2 pieces without removing the created
pieces > I hide the sphere layer > I separate the solids at the
intersection > I substract the bar intersection > I separate the solids
from the bar > I remove the unwanted side of the bar (too
complicated!)

Create a solid sphere coincident with your yellow hollow sphere (green below).
Create a box (red) to cover the bottom portion of the grey box that extends below the yellow sphere.
Boolean union the green sphere and red box.
Perform a Boolean Intersect of the result from step 3 with the gray box.

If you don't want the trimming of the gray box to be flush with the yellow sphere make the green sphere a bit smaller.

Thank for your response, is a faster solution than mine, but isn't the solution that i was searching for. I would like to know if there is an action that make this faster.
