Basic Copy Ctrl + C Behavior

I have read that a basic selection along with a Ctrl+C copy command copies the object from the origin.

In my many years of ACAD I have never had this behavior on my machines, the Ctrl+C always seemed to use the lower left of the object as the ref for the copied object. >> That is until 2021

In 2021 most of the time Ctrl+C copies objects using 0,0 as the base BUT at random Ctrl+C will use the lower left of the object as the base.

Does anyone know if there is a system variable that allows Ctrl+C to Behave like Ctrl+Shift+C?

Thanks in Advance

Tim C.

@tim_crouse ,

I have read that a basic selection along with a Ctrl+C copy command copies the object from the origin.

I would argue to disagree with this. That is not apparent in my use with the program.

In 2021 most of the time Ctrl+C copies objects using 0,0 as the base BUT at random Ctrl+C will use the lower left of the object as the base.

In my experience with the use of the Ctrl + C shortcut, it does not seem to have a dead-set method that I can consistently rely on each time (any year of my use w/ Acad). It appears to vary for me based on my screen/zoom/position when i initiate the Ctrl + C shortcut, and also when I paste, the screen/zoom/position seems to affect it also. I have personally not seen any consistency (then again, I also have not put research into finding its true methodology).

Does anyone know if there is a system variable that allows Ctrl+C to Behave like Ctrl+Shift+C?

I do not know of any system variable that will change this behavior, but I do know that you can update the keyboard shortcut in your main CUI file:

If you want, you can make Crtl + C mimic the "Copy with Base Point" shortcut:

Best,

~DD
