How can I convert an FBK file to a DWG file?

I don't think it's possible in AutoCAD. You'd need Civil 3D or a Surveying program that accepts FBK files and exports DWG or DXF.

I was afraid of that.

I am trying to output data from a Leica total station for use in AutoCAD. I
have 2 machines, one of them exports a dxf just fine, but my new machine
seems to lack the format file to do so. I was looking for a second step
method.

Not the same exact AutoCAD variant on each machine (find out, use ABOUT command inside each of them0

One has a 3rd party add-on and one does not: which command did you use on the machine that can do this?
