how to Draw a Rectangle Using the Center of the Rectangle as the Starting Point?

I've been using Autocad and want to draw in the center of the rectangle as the starting point.

search knowledge Autodesk and found a description for this and select draw rectangle and press the space key until the curser change as the photo attached. but it's not working for me.

Anyone can help me?

Not a build-in feature in vanilla AutoCAD. You need to have Autocad Mechanical vertical for that sort of tools...

@ВeekeeCZ is correct. You cannot draw a rectangle using the center as a starting point in plain/Vanilla AutoCAD. This feature is available in AutoCAD Mechanical and the description mentioned is for the same product. You could only draw a square with a starting point as a center in plain AutoCAD using the command "POLYGON" with 4 sides and "circumscribed about circle". You can also draw the rectangle and then move the rectangle to any reference using the "Geometric Center" object snap🙂

That description is for a different program. In AutoCAD, the space bar is the same as enter.

You can draw equilateral polygons using the center point so you could draw a square and then modify to suit.

You could also draw the rectangle and then us the geometric center snap to move into position. OSnap tracking would be another option to do this.

The attached RectMidPoint.lsp with its RMP command is what I use. See comments at the top of and within the file. Also available >here<.

Make a quarter, i.e. a 1/4 rectangle from your point. @x,y or x,y depending on your dynamic mode setting.

And, when this is done, you just have to select the object and turn one of the four blue grips into red by clicking in it !

Then, press 3 times ENTER or SPACE and specify the value of 2. It gonna scale by 2.

It is done.

Or build a dynamic block !

Would be some of my solutions....

How does this explanation have anything to do with the centroid of the rectangle?

Convection go with the flow evaluation isn't always covered. For what you are trying to acquire, CFD might be higher ideal blogbut I endorse posting the equal query at the CFD forum here for confirmation.
