Turn off noise when moving drawing using middle mouse button

My computer keeps coming out low volume noise 'ziiii' only when I move my CAD drawing using middle mouse button. Does anyone know how to turn it off? The noise is very annoying when I am using AutoCAD in a silent place.

That must be a setting elsewhere, because AFAIK there is nothing in AutoCAD to do that.

If it's a silent workplace, why are your speakers on?

There is no sound generated from AutoCAD when panning with MMB. Does it happen in other programs?

Do laptops have a system speaker in addition to the regular speakers like desktops do?

Ask your IT people for help, if you don't have one, take it to a computer store and use their HELP desk.

Interestingly, I'm experiencing this too and will revisit this Topic if I get around to finding a solution that works for me.

It's not only when I use the middle mouse button, but also when using the actual pan command too.

I suppose this is connected to the fans. When panning the Processor starts working harder, graphic card too, so they need more cooling...
Other than that, maybe the hard drive? Are you using a Hard drive or a SSD?

Hi,

I think I may have found the problem.

I have the same issue, when moving my crosshair, but only in AutoCAD.

I have two independent external speakers (Roland MA-12C) with their own power cable, plugged into a power bar, where my computer and other equipment is plugged into it too.

I turned off "Hardware acceleration" and the sound disappeared.

So, there seems to be an interference between the graphics card and the sound card.

At first I thought the problem originated from the power bar, So I connected the speaker on a wall outlet on a different circuit. Now I have continuous buzzing, without moving the mouse. I guess, my power bar filters out a lot of noise.

So in conclusion, it's the interference between the graphics card and the sound card.

I did some research and found out the the graphics card is creating a ground loop.

One other solution to remove the ground loop is to get a "Ebtech Hum Exterminator" from Amazone.

I use a "ground lift adaptor" and it works, they sell for a few dollars compared to the Amazone product at $119.00CAD

P.S. Hardware acceleration is back on 😉

tried to unplug ALL unneeded things like usb hub and external drives and more?

with Hardware acceleration ON and OFF ?

Take your PC to a repair shop and demonstrate it to them, they can help or diagnose/fix the issue for you.

For a test, try plugging your computer on a "ground lift adaptor" to see if it removes the buzzing. If it does, then something in your PC or power supply in your PC is creating a ground loop. Most probably it's your power supply.

Hi! For anyone still searching this: You are most likely experiencing GPU coil whine when utilizing the middle mouse button to move your CAD drawing. This can be triggered by certain events, which utilize certain voltages. This is pretty common in modern GPUs, and you can search how to fix it - but it will most likely be an issue you'll just learn to live with.
