Hello,

I have a layout (.dwt) and I want to have the same information/values on two attributes, such as the following:

The thing is that I only want to fill the first attribute and then I don't want to write it down again on the other one (FILE NAME).

Is it possible? Or should I maybe use a different command?

Kindly find attached the files for your reference.

Thank you!

Go to the DWGPROPS custom section and set up NAME - VALUE combos as needed. Then in the title blocks use FIELDS and reference those names. Never attempt to enter the values directly into the block attributes, simply change the value in the DWGPROPS dialog.

It works, but when I export a .dwt and want to place the new layout in a new file, I lose the "dwgprops".

I opened the ACAD.DWT file, used the DWGPROPS to create two sample custom fields (left values blank), then saved it as ACAD-TEST.DWT as a candidate for a template. Then when creating a new empty drawing I referenced my new ACAD-TEST.DWT as the template and the two fields were in my new drawing ready to be used.

As for getting the custom DWGPROP fields into an existing drawing, you will need to add them manually or look for automation like ToolPac (which lets you copy/paste DwgProps between open drawings and more).

Think long term, the main thing is to setup fields in your template and link them to title blocks so that new drawings in the future have this advantage.

Two more ways to achieve this:

1 Use sheet set manager to add custom sheet properties.

2 Create your block and with the prompt '!DO NOT CHANGE !' for the secondary attributes. After the block is created edit the second attribute and add a field (ctl+f) in the field dialog pick filed category object, for field name select object. Under Object type click the pick target, then select the block (yes its a reference to self). Under property select the primary attribute you want to read. If the attribute doesn't show up, select ok, then start to edit the attribute again to wake up the attribute list. Now when you change the primary attribute and regen the secondary reads the primary. The only drawback you can't just insert the block, you have to copy and paste or use a tool palette icon to put the block in a new drawing and keep the fields.
