Hello all,

I have some issue with tables. I would like to change the style of text, but it does not work. Could you tell me what could be the problem. I think I have some table or system variable set wrong. I tried in a new empty drawing, to be sure it's not a drawing (and copied table) problem. First, I created the standard table, wrote in cells some text, created a new text style and tried to change text style in table by selecting all the cells. the effect is in some cells text changes in some doesn't, in some it changes for a wrong one...

I would appreciate any help.

Regards,

Magdalena

You need to go into TABLESTYLE command, select MODIFY, then choose the "cell type" you want and reselect the text style you wish to use there. Repeat for the other two "cell styles" for your table style.

Right now all three cell styles are et to the STANDARD text style.

HTH

Just like text styles, multi-leader-styles, and dimension styles, there are TABLE STYLES. In AutoCad, a style controls the appearance of an entity such as a label, or in your case, a Table. One of the items that can change in its appearance is font. Change the style and the font associated with that style will react and change with it.

First, establish a TABLE STYLE. The style will give you the control you need. You'll know if you have properly established a Table Style if you see it the in the dropdown list in the INSERT TABLE dialog window. Image-1.

Image-1.

Note: There are different way to establish a Table Style. You may create one from scratch in your current drawing or you may cut and paste a Table Style from another drawing. If you cut and paste one from another drawing, the new Table Style's name should be different from any existing named style in you current drawing. If the names are the same, you'll have issues. You may even ADD a Table Style using Design Center.

Once a table has been inserted in your drawing, you may change that table's Style from one style to another. Select the Table=>Go to Properties Palette=>Change the Style in Table Section under 'Table Style'

Image-2.

If your Table Style is configured correctly, the font and the other settings associated with that style, will kick in and change your Table's appearance.

Thank you,

It works only in theory. Even on the blank drawing when I create a new table style and switch the style of the table - the size of text changes, the rotation changes but the text is not updated correctly.

Please find the example attached. The same happens when I try to use the 'match cell' command. Other variables change but the text style does not change properly. I can change the text style only by clicking on the cell and overriding in the cell the text style.

In the 'TABLE' style I use in all title, header and data cells romans font and in STANDARD style I used arial font. You can clearly see sth does not work. I guess I'm doing sth wrong - it's long time ago when I used to learn how to make tables. I guess I must have something in setting of table or autocad changed.

Thank you for your time.

Hmmmm.......your uploaded drawing IN POST #7 needs some revisions. Never ever name your style 'Standard.'

Standard is a DEFAULT NAMED STYLE used in all drawings. To avoid confusion, all 'user styles' should be given a new name, regardless of how few or abundant the customization.

Your settings will work but you need to avoid the word Standard when you name your new style. An easy way to create your table styles in 3.dwg you uploaded in Post #7 is to name one style RomanS and the other Arial.

RomanS table style will use RomanS font while the Arial table style will use Arial. You can make different text heights in each style or keep them the same. Same with text rotation, different in each or make them the same. Keep in mind an increase in text height (or a steep rotation angle) will require more space and make the table compensate for the taller text by heightening the row.

If you stay away from naming a table style Standard, your tables will perform like they should.
