Hello,

I have been trying to take the area of a very simple polygon using the AREA command and it continuously shows a much larger area than is correct. I have my units set to engineering, insertion scale to inches, dimension primary units to engineering with a scale factor of 1, and total scale as 1:1. I am trying to measure the area within the boundaries of the two arced lines that are inside of the bottom rectangle. The dimensions of this rectangle are 507'x 785', but when I am measuring the area of this small polygon the results keep showing ~27,000 sqft. How do I fix this to get the correct area? I am using Autodesk AutoCAD 2020 and have no issue running the software on my computer.

Thanks.

Does this look right to you?

You appear to be doing a point-to-point Area command, which doesn't account for the curvature. BOUNDARY or BPOLY will give you what @Patchy showed, and another way is to HATCH the area:

and the Properties of the Hatch pattern show the same area of 28,022.blahblah SF. That looks about right in proportion to the whole rectangle of almost 400,000 SF. What kind of value are you expecting, or are we assuming the wrong area?

I am getting 28 022.15 sq ft. Check attached drawing...

Use Boundary & list commands instead of Area command.

Everything seems correct to me. What values are you expecting ?

Break down of the areas, it looks right to me, where does it show larger value?
