AutoCAD locks up when opening dialog box

A co-worker has had a strange issue pop up overnight with his AutoCAD 2018. When typing a command to open a dialog box, the program locks up. For example, when typing XREF to get the box to open, the program just sits there. Also, he can no longer plot to a 30" roll on our plotter. It will plot to the 36" roll just fine. I did a repair, that didn't fix it. I did an uninstall and reinstalled it, that didn't work either. Very weird.

It locked up or the dialog box is off the screen?

The program locks up. The dialog box does not appear, cursor disappears, etc. Have to do the CTRL+ALT+DEL to close the program.

If you type in CLASSICXREF does it work?

Did you work on double screen and you changed now

If this is the case it is possible that the dialogue box is expected outside the current screen

See Windows screen settings

He has a double screen, but has had that for 2 years. Just started today.

Typing CLASSICXREF worked. How can I get XREF to look like the classic?

I still don't know why he cannot plot to our 30" roll of paper. It plots fine to the 36" roll.

Copy your .pc3 to his PC and use it to plot.

You can try make a copy of your .cuix to the bad PC and use it.

I copied my .pc3 and that didn't work. Some weird stuff going on with that machine.

1) The dialog box is offscreen, the program is not frozen: explore how to remedy that here https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Palettes-will-not-display-in-AutoCAD.html

2) they lost access to the PC3 file or the driver/driver settings you are using. "reinstall" has nothing to do with fixing that issue.
