AutoCAD 2021 extra click when starting command

When I start a command normally (such as XLINE), the cursor lets me pick wherever I want like normal. However, AutoCAD has started to require an extra click after entering the command (mouse will lock up as though it has lost focus on the program). When the extra click is provided the command works normally. The same thing happens every time a command is initiated thereafter.

This has not happened before until today and would like to know if anybody else has run into this issue. Please assist if there is a solution. Thanks!

That is exactly what is going on.

So what changed with your PC/setup/Drivers/OS in the last 24-hours? Something did, find out.

What command that you think changed? Can you provide a screenshot or copy-paste the command line when you use the command?

A VPN was installed and usual Windows update. I'll get with our IT
department to check in detail.

Since posting this, it happens at random times, some days not at all it seems. It triggers on commands which require an initial selection (ex: copy, erase, move, union, etc.). Commands such as polyline, line (or any other that does not require object select at the init) seem to be unaffected. Once this happens again, I will upload a screen capture.
