HI

Im having two issues with point cloud I project in my CAD 2022. Im using Aveva Point CLoud manager and getting PC to CAD by arx file.

1. I cant snap to Point cloud at all .... Not sure how to do it ?

2. Also my 3D CAD template with all piping components is much bigger than point cloud. So have to re-scale it by 0.001 to fit .

Any help will be appreciated

Im new on this forum .

Greeting to all

Dominik

@dominik_lasonYC5SE

1. Which of these do you have running

2. What units is your POINTCLOUD in? And what units is your DWG file? Then should both be the same instead of 'scaling' your content (all your piping will be the wrong size, aka not true/real).

Hi @pendean

Thanks for reply .

1. So I don't have that option "node to point cloud" , Im just using normal AutoCAD 2022

2. So dwg template is in mm and then I project point cloud into it I have to scale CAD objects of 0.001 factor. Couldn't see option to check units of point cloud .... only gives me the option of measurement in Aveva PCM .

Dominik

@dominik_lasonYC5SE

1. Plain AutoCAD does that if you have an actual AutoCAD recognized POINTCLOUD in your DWG file

https://help.autodesk.com/view/ACD/2025/ENU/?guid=GUID-9A6E6745-B838-4D00-95B7-952D9002EC10

https://help.autodesk.com/view/ACD/2025/ENU/?guid=GUID-DDF8B63A-4B93-47F8-B20B-5D9D5F0FD8B6

Did you start like this to bring one in? https://help.autodesk.com/view/ACD/2025/ENU/?guid=GUID-E086391C-6CEA-4B70-A788-7630FD75469F

2. My guess is you need "aveva" support at this point, your point cloud should be at a units setting you can use: 0.001 of mm is not exactly a usable unit, is it? I'm not in the "piping" industry, but seems very odd.
