Text and dimensions only show when cursor is hovered over it.

When I put in text or dimensions into model or paper space the text is there but is not visible. I can click on it and modify but still does not show unless I hover my cursor over it. Then it's shows up like a watermark. I have tried a new drawing and it does the same thing.

Is your Text Annotative?

What version of AutoCAD are you using?

Could be a DirectX issue...read up on that here:

Hi,

Try to disable hardware acceleration from 3DCONFIG command.

Have you installed the 2022.1.5 / 2023.1.6 / 2024.1.5 / 2025.1 Update yet? You never identify the year version, so those are the latest. ABOUT command in your AutoCAD will confirm what you have installed. If not, get it from your Autodesk Account Page here https://manage.autodesk.com/cep/#products-services/updates
Restart your PC afterwards.

If that did not help... Set GFXDX12 variable to 0 (that's a zero) then restart AutoCAD.

If still no relief then start GRAPHICSCONFIG command and change the 2D Display Settings pulldown from "advanced mode" to one of the other choices.

If all else fails, then turn off Hardware Acceleration as a last resort.
