F8

or this icon in the status bar:

For the leaders, it doesn't do that for me, except when I go closer to the other side of the text part. Is that what you mean?

I do use the add leader but find it quite frustrating as if i try to move the 2nd leader it drags the landing line with it. I want multiple arrows from one landing line.

im thinking it might be to do with the ortho settings maybe i should turn them off

>>>...I want multiple arrows from one landing line...<<<
MLEADERs have the MLEADEREDIT command that offers an add-a-leader option that is exceptionally smooth to use and operate, there is even a preset button for it if you are so inclined in the ribbon https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2021/ENU/AutoCAD-Core/files/GUID-9B157447-A952-42A2-AF68-98CC7B6F12FD-htm.html
