Wipeout Plotting

I have been searching for a solution for objects that are behind a wipeout frame still showing in the plot preview and also plotting.

All the wipeout frames are in blocks with 'Wipeoutframe' variable set to '0' and also on a layer called 'Wipeout'.

I made sure all the blocks 'Draw Order' was in 'Bring to Front'.

I had the 'Wipout' layer 'Plot' set to 'Not Plot', because, in my innocence, I thought that the right thing to do.

Having exhusted all the generous explanations on the net I became exasperated.

My problem was solved when, as a 'don't know what to do next', I changed the 'Wipeout' level 'Plot' property to 'Plot', and lo and behold, in my case, it worked no objects visible behind the Wipeout frames.

A wipeout hides all objects which are "behind" (via draworder) the wipeout.

If you set the wipeout layer to noPlot then the plotter doesn't know that there is a wipeout (the plotter doesn't receive the information of the existing wipeout) and all objects (also these behind the wipeout) stay visible and are plotted.

I'm not sure if this explanation is what you asked for. If not try again.

By having the wipeout frame set to invisible in the blocks seems to override the plot aspect.

When I had the wipeout layer set to 'No Plot' the so called hidden lines were visilble, both in the plot preview and the printed drawing.

By changing the layer to Plot the lines were no longer visible in either the preview or the printed drawing.

I found a cure, at least, for me. I just thought, as there seems to be a lot uncertaintry around this issue I'd let it be known what worked for me.

Also thought I'd attach a drawing for you to look at.

Change the layer properties and check the plot preview!

Otherwise it can not hide the lines in the block definition. If the wipeout layer is set to plot, then it hides all geometry behind. If the layer is set to no plot, the plotter doesn't "know" that there is a wipeout and all geometry in the plot will be visible.

Or you bring the wipeout to back. Then the complete block geometry always will be visible.

But I'm not sure what you really expect ...

If this doesn't solve your problem, please describe exactly what you want to achieve.

Yes it was probably my misunderstanding of what happens with the wipeout, but I'm not alone out here when it comes to this issue.

You have given the answer to the problem which I found out by experimenting with the dwg file as I couldn't find an answer trawling the net, if you forgive the pun.

The DV453 device, inside the rev cloud always plots like there is no wipeout. Nothing mentioned here has made it hide the din rail underneath it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe AutocCAD itself has a problem???

Instead of the wipeout I used a solid hatch with color 255. Plot into a .pdf (I don't have neither your .pc3 file nor your current plot style table) seems to work well. (Perhaps you must adjust the draworder, I don't know what you want to hide behind the wipeout).

I want to hide the din rail but not just have a white blob. I put details into that block so it would look like the actual component (DV453.) I REFEDIT the block, replace the wipeout with new wipeout and it works fine. This crap makes no sense.

Your old wipeout seems to be corrupt in any way. It's not worth to waste time to find out what caused the bizarre behavior. Nice that it works well now.

I often spend too much time trying to "solve the problem" before resorting to replacing something. Just replacing the wipeout fived it.
