Due to the number of entities and viewports, we require multiple DWG files to plot our final product.

X-ref is typically the way to go. However, that method took a long time for each sheet to render each plot. Using the X-ref, I can anticipate 45 seconds per sheet.

The workaround we were using was to create a master block of the origin file's model space and then insert that master block into a separate slave DWG file. Then, we could create additional viewports and publish without much lag. The master block did not impact the publisher's speed the way the X-ref did, so once we set up a .dsd file, it would zip right along through multiple files, creating one published book.

When edits were required, we made them to the original file master block, saved that file, and redefined the master block in the other slave files.

The new issue is that Acad 2025 does not play well with the master block, and publishing has slowed down to the same pace as the X-ref. About 45 seconds a sheet.

If the master blocks in all the files are all exploded, publishing goes rocket fast. But that eliminates the redefine step, and edits become an issue.

If the block is not exploded in any of the files, when the publisher gets to that file, it slows to 45 seconds per sheet.

I have tried every setting I can think of. all prior versions of autocad except 2024 have been uninstalled. Publish in the background has been turned off long ago.

Reloaded the page setups, then remade the page set up using set up manager. Verified all the setting I know about between the prior version and this new one are the same.

This issue may have something to do with the new way cad is handling blocks,

What did Autodesk change and is there a setting that unchanges it?

Never seen anything like that before in older versions nor in 2025. But it look like your old system of using blocks may be the sole issue (not aware of anyone that does that BTW).

A few questions please:

Is this Plain AutoCAD2025 or a vertical (C3D, MAP, MECH, Plant3D etc.)?

Any 3rd party add-ons being used?

What are you publishing to? External or built-in PDF drivers, DWF, plotter/printer? PC3?PMP files for the last ones, or Windows drivers?

Did you test different output options and they are all equally slow?

What are your PUBLISH parameters?

Do you use SSM? Or are you publishing from modelspace only?

Where do you store your files? How are you connected to that?

OS is Windows or MAC?

File sizes (top, XREFs, "blocks" etc.)?

Is this a clean install of 2025, or did you all use the migration tools to transfer from your old version to this one?

Hi,

You may get some difference by trying cleaning all of your files by AUDIT, Recover and -Purge ( RegApps ). I suggest to follow Here all methods that may help.

Missing updates.

CAd is up to date

Background plotting is enabled.

Background plotting is turned off

A high-quality driver is selected, and there are many images in the file.

Using Cad driver to maintain consistency over many computers

The plot driver is damaged or corrupted.

Not sure how to restore a CAD driver. I will look into that.

The Temp folder is full.

Just installed the proggy, most likely not the case.

A layout is damaged or corrupted.

Test multiple files.

Complex project stored on network.

Stored on the same computer

As complicated as this sounds it actully not. Im simply telling the publisher to go find a file, then a tab then the named range on that tab. This issue most likely is impacted on how CAD is managing the info in the window. Its been changed so that if there is a block, its seeing the entire block regardless if it need to print it or not.
