Very odd situation I've never run into. I have multiple sheet files set up in a single file for different phases of a site plan, existing/new/etc. I set up the layout and sheet for the new plan, then copied the tab to create the existing sheet, but for some reason as I go to turn on and off layers, the two sheets are linked somehow. As I turn off the new building, in one, it does it in the other. Never had this happen in the thousands of times I've ever set up files. Any ideas?

thanks, Ryan

Most likely you turned on/off common layer(s).

Otherwise can you upload a sample drawing?

What do you mean turn off common layers? I'm looking at one single layer at the moment that will turn on and off in both sheets.

also the drawing has far too many xrefs for me to bother to upload for you

Two sheets, A001 and A002 within the same file. A001 is existing A0002 is new. When I'm in A001 and want to turn off the Proposed building layer, it turns it off in A002 at the same time, with only the one click in A001. A001 was created as a layout copy of A002, but this is how I've always created new tabs for sheets that show the same location in model space, and never had a problem with layers linking between the sheets. They always act separately. So I'm asking if there is something that I may be able to turn off

it's not that its not clean, It's a site survey, with multiple xrefs in all sorts of different places, and I'm not spending that time.

Is there any way to make a sheet layout unique? How do you handle different phases of something within the same file other wise

Dig even deeper: you probably have that common item(s)/Xref(s) on a wrong layer most likely. Go into modelspace and explore.

Checked, thats not it. It is a single polyline on a new layer I just created. So it's the only thing on the layer. And the issue is not that I can't find it or can't turn it off, its that it's doing the action in two sheets at once.

additionally, there are other items in the drawing doing the same thing. So it's not a specific layer issue, this building layer was just the first thing I started to do and noticed in the drawing

I guess I should ask, is this how it's supposed to work? You can not have different layer settings between different sheet in the same drawing file?
