Convert TTF to SHX, Solution within CAD - Informational

Hello,

I was recently having trouble with excel text plotting the right lineweight in CAD. My main problem was I wanted to import an excel table and have the text plot based on my .ctb plot style. Because the text comes in as TTF and not SHX the lineweights would not plot.

The method to convert the TTF to SHX is as follows:

- using the command PASTESPEC, paste autocad entities

- adjust the table to get the look you are going for

- explode the table

- even though the text is already mtext use the command TXT2MTXT to convert the text

- Select your text, change the style of text to your preferred text style which is already set up in CAD

Now your text will be SHX and plot the lineweight you desire.

If you have any questions, let me know. Please accept as a solution if you come across this and it helped you out with this problem.

Regards,

Josh

@Anonymous wrote:

The method to convert the TTF to SHX is as follows:

These days most need searchable text in PDFs so TTF font is preferred. SHX is a bit outdated.

@Anonymous wrote:

Please accept as a solution if you come across this and it helped you out with this problem.

Sorry, no one else can mark as solved, only you (or and admin).

@Anonymous wrote:

- even though the text is already mtext use the command TXT2MTXT to convert the text

Why is this necessary? What does it do?

@Anonymous wrote:

- Select your text, change the style of text to your preferred text style which is already set up in CAD

This should not read "your preferred text style". Again, most use TTF and their "preferred" style is set to TTF.
