Diferent workslow for you but have you considered creating layouts with specific views represented in viewports?

You would leave all layers active in Model Space but the viewport ;ayer settings for any given viewport would adjust when navigating from one to the next. Your text list would have the unique names and your layout tabs could have matching names.

This affords a goal I have for all of my drawings... leave my model alone! Users revieing for info would only view layout info.

Just my 2 penny.

Hello, I am looking for a way to link a text to a specific point in Model.

I have the model of a whole machine with 15 motors in it. I want to do a list (multiple texts) and was asked, to link the name from the list to the location of the specific motor in Autocad. For example, if I press "M1" in my list, the whole screen (or view) will move to the object (Motor) called M1 in the Model. The same if I press "M12" in list, move the focus of the view to motor number 12.Is it possible? I hope I could make me understand well, sorry if I am not making myself clear.

Hi,

if your motors are blocks ... and if you have attributes inside these blocks, e.g. an ID having this text "M12" then you can use the standard text search to find the text and to zoom to the objects.

If anything does not work in the way I described here then because I don't see your dwg-file, I don't know what "motor" is inside your drawing and which properties it has.

Thanks Alfred, I am testing what you wrote right now, and yes, I can find it in the text search. The thing is that the people who want to view the diagram are not regular autocad users. So they want to just see the list and click to "go to" the very part they are looking for. Something like a list of hyperlinks is what they asked.

Hi,

>> The thing is that the people who want to view the diagram are not

>> regular autocad users. So they want to just see the list and click

>> to "go to"

The main message from my side to this statement: if you have untrained users which want to do special things in software you have two chances:

train them

write a tool which is easier to use for them

With a self written app you can do (close to) everything in AutoCAD.

A ready to use feature for "zoom to my motor, turn on and thaw layers (because it could be hidden)" does not exist.

Text in the list is the closest (I know) which you can use OOTB.
