Hello!

I am quite new to AutoCAD especially in terms of plotting and I have this problem (see attachments (they are captures from model space)).

So although the cyan line is a single polyline (with many vertexes) the dashed line type displays only partially not as a whole. Now is it normal and if so how to get it as a continuous dashed line? The line itself was exported from Rhino as a Spline. I converted it into Polyline because the corners did not display properly with the dashed line.

In general, I had a lot of line type scale problems with this file as for example when I was zooming in and out in plot space the line type was scaling. Since I couldn't solve that I imported the drawing as a block into a new file what helped but now I have the problem described above.

Additionally, could you let me know if it is a normal practice to use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V to move linework from one file into the other? That's how I have been compiling different linework so far and it may have something to do with all the problems?

Hi,

>> Now is it normal and if so how to get it as a continuous dashed line?

You have to check first your LTSCALE system variable for the whole drawing then check from object property Ctrl+1 the linetype scale ( after selecting the line ) . if it's ok for you use MATCHPROP ( MA ) command to apply the properties of a selected object to other objects.

>> if it is a normal practice to use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V to move linework from one file into the other?

It's Normal . But you have to watch the settings differentiation ( if any ) between both files.

Alright, so my LTSCALE is 1.00 and I am not sure about further instructions but the two cyan lines on the attached capture have exactly the same properties. The only difference is that the one that looks fine has 4 points and the other has much more.

Since you're treat with spline objects and from outsource software those grips ( as much as i understand ) are normal . but you can redraw arc over that curve to solve your issue . i have no mind to help you more if you attache here your CAD dwg file ?

Yeah, I think I will just draw a new line on top of it. But would you mind still having a look at it? I am working a lot between Rhino and AutoCAD and will probably have a similar issue in the future so it would be really helpful.

I have made the problematic polyline red.

Thanks.

@mijalskid17 wrote:

You need LINETYPE GENERATION enabled for that Polyline, to have non-continuous linetypes "wrap" through multiple segments rather than consider each segment independently [disabled]. Select the Polyline [or as many as you like at once], and in Properties at the bottom:

To have all new Polylines drawn with linetype generation enabled, set the PLINEGEN System Variable to 1.
