The dynamic input (F12 key) need to be turned on for offset to work that way.

My previous experience with offset command was that if I've entered let's say, 2000 in the distance prompt after clinking enter on the offset command, it would first preview which side of the line/figure you wish to apply the command on and at that point also you could enter a new value , lets say 1000, which will be the final offset distance just for this once and so your offset will at a dist. of 1000 and next time again the default value will be 2000.
Now if I enter 2000 first and 1000 later at the last step, I still get an offset of 2000.
How do I change the command to act like it did previously?

DYNAMIC INPUT IS ON. I START BY ENTERING A SPECIFIC VALUE BUT AFTERWARDS IN THE SAME COMMAND IF I ENTER A DIFF VALUE, IT WILL STILL READ THE SAME VALUE I'D ENTERED AT THE START OF THE COMMAND.
