Hi,

>> when printed onto white paper, looks washed out

Make sure you are using a CTB (e.g. monochrome.ctb) inside your plot dialog to make sure that no RGB-values are sent to the printer.

>> Is there a standard for these things?

If so it depends on the location you are and the standards at this geographic region as well as the type of drawings you are creating.

>> colours which look fine ion the screen with a black background

For current displays there does not exist any reason to work on black background (I assume you are not using an old tube-monitor). Change to white background and you can work in the same way you'd like to print without the need to always think about "which color do I have to use that looks great on screen and which CTB did I use to get which color on paper". This makes everything just more complex.

Best colours for printing in monochrome?

I'm using a simple inkjet printer (Epson Stylus sx535wd) for printing my cad drawing on to A4. It is a simple measured building survey drawing.

I have my layers set to different colours which look fine ion the screen with a black background but when printed onto white paper, looks washed out. I'd like to print in monochrome but am not really sure what the norm is for the right colours to present the desired line weight.

Is there a standard for these things? Obviously having everything in one colour would look wrong.

Thanks
