Hi Kent1Cooper,

Thanks for taking time out to reply!

It's not so much the continuing of the dimension. I already use that function with no issue.

Its more to do with trying to force dimension text and arrows to not overlay one another. Happens when there are smaller room sizes so dimensions are closer together. I've solved the issue for the dimension that dictates the wall thickness, I just had the initial position centralised during the initial placement. Just wonderd if there is some kind of override that stops dimension text and arrows going on top of each other. The dimensions shown on the PDF I attached were done automatically in a years old bit of CAD software, so surprised that no function similar exists in autocad??

dimension settings

Hi all,

Having some issues with dimension setup. Main issue being the dim text and dim arrows that are showing the size of the walls, are appearing directly on the same plane as the room sizes. I’ve fiddled with many settings, but can’t solve the issue? Please see the attached cad file where you can see the issue with the dimensions (shown on top edge of home). I’ve also attached a PDF of a drawing which shows how I want the dims to look, with the smaller dimension positioning itself just above, so not covering the other dim texts. I’m presuming there is a setting to do this rather than having to move each dimension manually to tidy it up?

Kind regards

Matthew

DIMCONTINUE will do it this way, if that works for you:

DIMCONTINUE will move most of the conflicting dimensions for you automatically as @Kent1Cooper shows in his screenshot above.

Your first dimension will always be in the way unfortunately unless you set your DIMSTYLE to always let you manually place the dimtext.
