Problem with Tiff images from Pix4D

Hi, I am trying to insert a TIFF image generated by Pix4D application, but AutoCAD does not recognize the format. This image has LZW compression, and a size of about 3GB. Need to know what the limitations of AutoCAD with this type of TIFF, because I've tried to recompress the file using JPEG compression, with more or less compression factor but stays locked AutoCAD.

Hi Elena,
Details please on how you are importing the Tiff. Are you importing it with the Raster Tools IINSERT?
There used to be a 2GB limit on Tiff Import, but I don't know if that still applies. You can crop a big Tiff with the free >>>GeoViewer<<< to see if that works.

Hello, from what it seems the problem is not only in the size of the image, but in the encoding, since although they are TIFF images, both AutoCAD and the GeoViewer application do not recognize this format, and do not allow cropping or do anything with those images. Can you tell me what kind of TIFF is not supported by AutoCAD?

I guess the kind you have? How are you trying to import the image into AutoCAD? What version or vertical of AutoCAD do you have?
Drag-n-Drop that image into QGIS. If QGIS can't open it, you've got problems. You might also try re-saving in IrfanView.

As a last ditch effort, please post your image with Autodesk Drive or DropBox.

Note: AutoCAD 2000, AutoCAD LT 2000, and later releases do not support LZW-compressed TIFF files, with the exception of English language versions sold in the US and Canada. If you have TIFF files that were created using LZW compression and want to insert them into a drawing, you must resave the TIFF files with LZW compression disabled.

Hello, I am using version 2022 of AutoCAD, and the image can be imported in QGIS. In AutoCAD I use the Insert> Raster Image Reference option and it shows the error message that you can see in the following image. I also attach a link to the original image with LZW compression and 3GB size. I have tried to recompress the image with JPEG compression to 50% and it stays at about 600Mb, it seems that this way it does not give the error message and it asks you for the position and the insertion scale in the drawing, but it takes A lot time, in fact I have not gotten to see it inserted, because I have cancelled the task of how long time it was taking. This last image I have also tried to read with GeoViewer, but it says that it does not recognize the format, QGIS does import it without problems. I also attach a link to this image, in case you can tell me something about it. Thank you very much and regards

Thanks for posting your Tiff.
GeoViewer takes about 5 minutes to load that monster. I hugely dropped the resolution and re-saved. The resulting file was only 3.65MB, but even though it loaded quickly in AutoCAD it was unusable because of the poor resolution. So I'd recommend breaking up the full-sized file into Hi-rez pieces in Geoviewer. This little piece, at Hi-rez, is 1.3GB, but it plops easily into AutoCAD.

Hello, how do you get to load the image in GoeViewer? I do it as shown in the image, File> Add Layer> Local layer and I select the Tiff file and it returns the error of the following image. I'm waiting for your answer, regards

Same as you, in GeoViewer I use File >> Add Local Layer.
Your Screen Shots of the Error don't show up. I don't see anything.

I had added the image in the body of the message, anyway the message says the following:

Error Opening Layer
Couldn`t open local layer:
file name
The provided path format is not supported

Is it because the version of GeoViewer that I have is missing any codec? Thanks and regards
